Asset Management

The goal of asset management is to optimise the use and life of Council's assets and manage all maintenance efforts involved in making assets as reliable, accurate, and as efficient as possible.

The current replacement value of the total asset stock (in current cost terms) is approximately $600 million.  This represents a significant investment that must be maintained to minimise replacement expenditure and to uphold high levels of service and customer satisfaction.

The asset stock of Kingborough Council comprises:

  • Drainage infrastructure (including pipes, pits and treatment systems)
  • Roads (including footpaths, kerb and channel, bridges, street lighting)
  • Recreation facilities
  • Parks (including playgrounds)
  • Buildings
  • Fleet (vehicles)
  • Plant (excavators, trucks, machinery)
  • Information Technology (communications systems, computers)
