Expression of Interest – COMMUNITY RESILIENCE WORKING GROUP

COMMUNITY RESILIENCE WORKING GROUP

COMMUNITY REPRESENTATION

Would your community prove resilient in the event of an emergency or disaster? Are members of your community connected to one another and capable of working together?

Council is seeking expression of interest from Kingborough residents to form a Community Resilience Working Group.

The group will assist Council to promote a safe, sustainable, and resilient community, through practical planning for risk mitigation (prevention), preparedness and recovery with the Kingborough community and stakeholders.

Council is seeking community members who will:

  • Take an active role in the advancement of community resilience, through community safety and awareness campaigns and activities;
  • Undertake an active role in disaster recovery planning through the promotion of an informed and engaged community; and
  • Develop and deliver emergency management arrangements that have a practical application and direction, to the community and stakeholders

Residents need not have emergency management experience but should be able to demonstrate their capacity to engage and liaise with their local community. Council are seeking people who have good networks, contacts and community links and can help to get information out to the community.

It is envisaged that the group will meet approximately three times a year.  The group will help to identify priority areas for engagement and will provide advice and guidance for the dissemination of information.

Written applications should be lodged with Council by 5pm Friday 29th September 2017.
