Nominate a Kingborough Champion!

Recognising Kingborough’s outstanding volunteers is a highlight for Council, and the Mayor of Kingborough is pleased to launch the nomination process for the 2019 Kingborough Awards.

Cr Wass said, “Kingborough is a community brimming with outstanding local volunteers who are achieving great things for the people who live here. It is an honour for us to organise these awards to celebrate their achievements and recognise the benefit they bring to this community.”

There are many people who go about their community work without thinking their role is greatly significant, or who are unaware of the positive impact they have on the lives of people who benefit from their efforts. Whether it is planting trees, working for the local sporting or youth group, or reaching out to new migrants or older residents of our community – there are many who deserve to be recognised and celebrated.

If you know any local champions, we hope you will consider nominating in one of the three categories: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (under 26 years) and Community Group of the Year.

“Nominating individuals and groups does take time and effort,” acknowledged Cr Wass, “We greatly appreciate the commitment of those who nominate others, and we encourage everyone to have a go. This is the most important step towards recognising our local heroes.”

Nominations are now open and the online form is available on Council’s website: www.kingborough.tas.gov.au/awards-nomination-form  or by calling Council’s Community Development Officer on 6211 8200. Nominations will close at 5pm on Monday, 8 October 2018. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Saturday, 5 January 2019.
