Seeking a cafe operator for Dru Point

Kingborough Council is seeking expressions of interest for the operation of the kiosk at Dru Point Reserve in Margate. A broad range of proposals are invited, however Council is keen to receive interest for a commercial enterprise model that could expand the use of the kiosk into a café.

The Dru Point Reserve is one of the most popular facilities in Kingborough. It offers a large playground, BBQ area, tennis courts, picnic areas, dog walking area, connected cycleways and walkways, boat ramp, children’s bike track and plenty of car parking. An upgrade of the reserve is underway following the development of a Masterplan for the site last year.

Council is seeking an operator who will provide a high level of service and seek to maximise the potential of the site. Operators with a vision to expand the current level of service from that of a kiosk to a café will be favourably considered. It is intended that the facility will be operated under a lease agreement, the terms and conditions of which will depend upon the nature of the lessee and the intended use of the facility. A standard commercial lease will apply to any commercially based enterprise.

Expressions of interest for the operation of the facility will be open until 5:00pm on Monday 1 May 2019.  Council will consider all EOI’s and will seek to sign an agreement that sets out the operators plans for the facility.  Expressions of interest should be provided in writing (hardcopy or email), and addressed to the General Manager.  Submissions can be lodged at the Council, 15 Channel Highway, Kingston 7050 or via email kc@kingborough.tas.gov.au. Council reserves the right not to proceed with any of the submissions received and to re-advertise at a later date.
