Kingborough Sports Centre Closure Announced

The Mayor of Kingborough, Cr Dean Winter is advising that the Kingborough Sports Centre will be closed to the public indefinitely from 8pm today, Wednesday 18 March, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Following the position taken by other councils and sporting clubs, we feel this is the most responsible decision to make, and we don’t make it lightly.

“Our Sports Centre staff are now exploring outdoor fitness training possibilities and online fitness opportunities for our members. They will be in contact with members during the next week with details, and will be publishing information on our website and Facebook page.

“All memberships will be frozen so members will not be paying while the Centre is closed. For those who have paid a yearly membership, your membership will be extended to include the period of closure once we reopen.

“The Sports Centre staff will still be on hand to take phone and email enquiries so please contact them if you would like any further information.

“The health and well-being of our community is our first priority. We thank all of our members for their support, and encourage everyone to stay safe and healthy.”
