Nominations for the Kingborough Awards are now open for 2021.

“Volunteers in Kingborough have been critical for the health and well-being of our community during 2020,” said Cr Paula Wriedt.

“The unique and prolonged circumstances of living though a pandemic has affected us all and impacted many.

“What continues to amaze us at Council is the versatility, adaptability, and resilience of the volunteers who have supported so many people in need this year.

“We have seen a huge wave of support for volunteer organisations with food packages and grants.

“There has also been some very innovative support programs and home activity ideas, which have connected us all online and demonstrated the strength we have within our neighbourhoods.

“I hope we will be able to recognise these outstanding members of our community through the Kingborough Awards and encourage everyone to take the time to nominate your local hero or heroes.”

Council is seeking nominations for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year. An easy to complete online form is available at www.kingborough.tas.gov.au/awards-ceremonies. Council’s Community Development Officer is available for more information and advice on 6211 8170.
