Safer Community Committee

Nominations are now open for membership of Council’s Community Safety Committee.

Deputy Mayor of Kingborough, Jo Westwood said the Council was seeking members for a two-year period, 2022 to 2023.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure within the community, whether it be around roads, schools and in our public places,” Cr Westwood said.

“The committee meets every two months at the Council Chambers during business hours and discusses a variety of safety issues impacting our community.

“The committee also receives regular briefings on relevant issues from Tasmania Police, the Department of State Growth and the Road Safety Advisory Council.

“It’s a great space for people who like to engage with community issues and challenges, and who see themselves able to make a positive contribution within a team environment.

“Nominations are open to everyone, but we are particularly looking for participants who have an interest in developing safety mitigation strategies within our community.

“As a committee we are dedicated to building a safe, inclusive and equitable community where everyone feels socially connected, respected and valued.
