Free Green Waste Weekend

Kingborough Acting Mayor, Clare Glade-Wright said to help people get ready for the summer Kingborough Council was offering a free green waste weekend on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November.

“Kingborough residents are invited to bring along green waste and garden clippings up to a limit of five cubic metres throughout the weekend free of charge,” Cr Glade-Wright said.

“Residents can bring their green waste to either Barretta or Bruny Island Waste Stations.

“The green waste collected from the weekend is sent to Brighton where it is processed into compost.

“Everyone’s green waste must be completely free of contaminants including, general waste, hazardous waste, plastic and declared weeds.

“A list of what weeds are declared can be found on the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania’s website.

“Please remember that these weekends can be very busy, staff appreciate the patience of all visitors to the facility during this time.”

Commercial operators will be requested to pay standard rates.
