Celebrating our Volunteers

Kingborough Council Volunteer Program participants have been thanked for all their hard work throughout the year with a trip to Government House and lunch at the Botanical Gardens.

Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said Monday 5 December is International Volunteers Day, and we have some very wonderful volunteers to celebrate here in Kingborough.

“Our 40 volunteers based throughout Kingborough assist around 165 residents aged over 65 with appointments, pet walking and small jobs around the garden,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Volunteers also provide valuable social connections for many in our community who don’t have the support of family.

“About 68% of the Tasmanian population volunteers, which is phenomenal,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Our Kingborough Volunteer Program celebrated its tenth year of operation this year. It is always looking for more volunteers and more clients.”
