Kingborough Council welcomes new CEO

Mayor, Paula Wriedt announced the appointment of Dave Stewart to the new Chief Executive Officer CEO, role at Kingborough Council.

Cr Wriedt said she was excited to welcome Kingborough’s new CEO to the municipality and looked forward to him sharing his extensive experience within the community.

“Mr Stewart currently lives in New Zealand as General Manager, Active Communities in Auckland Council,” Cr Wriedt said.

“He and his wife and will be moving to Tasmania in early April 2024 to take up the position at Kingborough Council.

“Mr Stewart comes with impressive multi sector experience having previously worked for Paralympics New Zealand, Australian Rugby and the Australian Rugby Foundation.

“Whilst going through this process, Council made the timely decision to rename the role of General Manager to Chief Executive Officer,” Cr Wriedt said.

Dave Stewart said he was looking forward to the opportunity to be the new Council CEO in one of the most beautiful, diverse and fastest growing municipalities in Tasmania.

“I am looking forward to getting out and about to meet as many community organisations and members as I can,” Mr Stewart said.

“I want to ensure that our staff teams have the resources to do their job effectively and to support their professional goals, aspirations and growth whilst working towards providing the very best service levels to our community.

“I also want to hear how Council can improve services and processes to build a better Council for our community in partnership with our dedicated Mayor and Councillor team.

“On a personal level, I am really looking forward to living in a smaller, close-knit community and am hoping to ideally purchase some land where my family can live a more sustainable lifestyle.”
