Harmony Week

This year Kingborough will celebrate Harmony Week on Friday 22 March at the Community Hub from 4.30 to 7.30pm.

Mayor, Paula Wriedt said Harmony Week celebrates our community’s cultural diversity and promotes inclusiveness, respect and belonging.

“This will be a great event with a wonderful range of music, art, food and entertainment,” Cr Wriedt said.

“We have music by Latin American band Kattleya, Indian Bharathnatyam dancing by Yukthaa and a Colombian cultural dance activity from Maira, for everyone to enjoy.

“There will be Henna tattooing by Ranjeeta and an excellent selection of Ethiopian, Indian, Turkish food along with alcoholic drinks available at the Coffee Hole.

“Two amazing workshops available at the event will be Arabic Calligraphy and Ukrainian Samchykivka Folk Art which both require booking or payment on the door.

“Kingborough has one of the highest multicultural populations, with over 21% of residents born overseas, compared the rest of Tasmania which has 15% born overseas.”
