Kingborough Council’s major upgrade of Browns Road in Kingston is progressing with underground stormwater upgrades now complete.
Mayor of Kingborough, Cr Paula Wriedt, said work will now focus on construction of a new concrete footpath and associated retaining walls, kerb and gutter replacement and the realignment of the Channel Highway intersection, followed by the road widening and pavement renewal.
“The reconstruction of Browns Road will deliver improved safety, accessibility and better traffic flow for all users,” Cr Wriedt said.
“This project includes full road reconstruction and sealing, upgraded drainage, new kerbs and gutters, a new concrete footpath, and a retaining walls and guard rail near 20 Browns Road.
“Temporary traffic changes remain in place during construction.
“Browns Road is currently one way uphill between the Channel Highway and the Australia Post Depot, and access to Kingston from Firthside is via a temporary access lane onto the Southern Outlet.
“We thank residents and road users for their patience during construction,” Cr Wriedt said.
Council will continue to provide updates in the local media, and on Council’s Facebook and webpage.
