Kingborough Council has negotiated an extension with contractors at the Kingborough Sports Precinct, allowing several community facilities to remain open until Monday 22 June.
The Kingston View off lead dog area (and designated greyhound area), Kingborough Mountain Bike Park, pump track and Southern Obedience Club training area will now close on Monday, 22 June 2026.
Acting Mayor Christian Street said the extension would help minimise disruption for the community by reducing the gap between the closure of existing facilities and the availability of new or replacement options.
“Council is progressing plans to relocate the Kingston View Drive off lead dog exercise area to Maddocks Road.
The Development Application has been publicly advertised and is due to be considered at the 1 June Council Meeting.
“Our focus is on ensuring there is as little disruption as possible for dog owners during the transition to the new site,” Cr Street said.
“Once construction of the AFL High Performance Centre is complete, the Kingborough Mountain Bike Park and pump track will be rebuilt within the precinct.
“To support the community in the interim, a temporary pump track will be installed at Kingston Park later this year.
“Once the new Mountain Bike Park is complete, the temporary track will be relocated to another suitable site within Kingborough.
“Council is continuing to work with the Southern Obedience Club to identify a suitable new location for training activities.”
