Margate now has a new full-sized basketball court, with work recently completed at Dru Point, providing an exciting new recreational space for the local community.
Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the new court will be a welcome addition to Kingborough’s sporting facilities, particularly by young people and basketball enthusiasts south of Kingston.
“The new court will provide a great space for young players and maybe inspire Kingborough’s next wave of JackJumpers and Jewel basketball stars,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Ensuring our rural communities and young people have access to quality facilities is really important to Council.
“The new basketball court is a wonderful addition to Dru Point, complementing the recently constructed footpaths and the upgraded playground ship, and further enhancing the area as a destination for families and visitors,” Cr Wriedt said.
The Dru Point basketball court was funded with a $150,000 Tasmanian Government grant, with Council delivering the project.
