Hutchins Street footpath upgrade to Improve Safety and Accessibility

Important footpath upgrades along Hutchins Street in Kingston are set to begin on Friday 5 June.

Kingborough Acting Mayor Christian Street said the work includes upgrades to kerbing, footpaths and sections of driveway infrastructure.

“This is about improving safety and pedestrian access while ensuring the infrastructure continues to meet the needs of residents into the future,” Cr Street said.

“To support construction, the lane heading up Hutchins Street from the Channel Highway roundabout will be closed to through traffic during construction.

“Access to the Council carpark, library, and Channel Court will be via Church Street only.

“This arrangement will allow crews to carry out the work safely and efficiently.

“To minimise disruptions during business hours, initial work is planned for the June long weekend.

The project is expected to take around five weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions.

Construction hours will generally be between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Some activities may occur outside these hours where required, including occasional overnight or Saturday morning works.
