Kingborough Council is inviting community members interested in shaping their local area to attend an information session for prospective candidates in the October 2026 Local Government elections.
Council CEO, Dave Stewart said the information session would be held at the Kingborough Council Civic Centre on Wednesday, 22 July from 5.30pm.
“It’s a valuable opportunity to gain an informative look at how Council operates and what it means to serve as an elected representative,” Mr Stewart said.
“Candidates will hear directly from the members of Kingborough’s Executive Leadership Team and a representative from the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT).
“The session will provide insight into how Council operates, the role, responsibilities and obligations of Councillors and how Council decisions are made.
“Whether motivated by community service, leadership, or a desire to make a positive contribution, this session will help potential candidates understand the rewarding role of a Councillor and the impact they can have on their community.
“Community members interested in making a difference in Kingborough are warmly encouraged to attend,” Mr Stewart said.
