Celebrating Local Talent

The Kingborough Art Prize Exhibition & Sale will return to the Kingborough Community Hub this September, celebrating the creativity and talent of artists from across the region.

Acting Mayor Cr Christian Street said the annual exhibition remains a highlight of the local arts calendar, providing artists with an opportunity to showcase and sell their work while connecting with the wider community.

“Each year the exhibition attracts a diverse range of artwork and gives both emerging and established artists the chance to share their talent with the community,” Cr Street said.

“It’s also a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to experience and support local art.

“Visitors won’t just be able to enjoy the exhibition, they’ll also have the opportunity to purchase original works from the moment the exhibition opens.”

The exhibition will open to the public on Thursday 17 September, with the official opening event to be held on Friday 18 September from 5pm.

The event is presented by the Lions Club of Kingborough in partnership with Kingborough Council.

An independent judging panel will select the winners, with prizes including a $1,500 overall winner, three category prizes of $600 each, and a $300 Youth Prize.

Cr Street said Council was proud to sponsor the Youth Prize, which encourages young artists to develop and share their creative talents.

“The Youth Prize provides an opportunity for emerging artists to gain recognition and confidence, and we look forward to seeing the creativity on display.”

Winners will be announced at the official opening event on Friday 18 September.

The community is encouraged to visit the exhibition and support the talented artists who make Kingborough’s creative sector such a vibrant part of the municipality.
