The Kingborough Sports Precinct has reached another significant milestone, with the Tasmania Devils Football Club announcing Fairbrother Construction as the successful tenderer to build the club’s High Performance Centre at Kingston’s Twin Ovals.
Kingborough Acting Mayor Christian Street said the announcement was an exciting development for the precinct and reinforced Kingborough’s growing reputation as a hub for sport and community activity.
“While the High Performance Centre will be home to the Tasmania Devils, the wider investment in the precinct will leave a lasting legacy for the Kingborough community,” Cr Street said.
“Alongside the new High Performance Centre, the development of Oval 3 will provide a home ground for the Kingborough Tigers and further strengthen the sporting opportunities available within the precinct.
“Council is also progressing plans for Oval 4, with construction anticipated to commence next year.
“The Kingborough Knights will continue to play their premier matches at the existing cricket oval, which will remain their home ground and retain its turf centre wicket, turf practice wickets and pavilion facilities.
“Oval 4 will complement these facilities, providing an additional high-quality playing surface with a turf centre wicket to support women’s, junior and lower-grade men’s cricket, while also serving as a training venue for the Kingborough Tigers in winter.
“The Kingborough Sports Precinct is being developed to cater for everyone, from grassroots participants through to elite athletes.
“By bringing together high-quality community and professional sporting facilities, the precinct will attract visitors, support local clubs and deliver lasting benefits for the Kingborough community for many years to come.”
