Kingborough Council is encouraging cat owners to help protect native wildlife by keeping their cats out of Cat Prohibited Areas and Council reserves.
Periodic trapping is undertaken in these protected areas, which provide important habitat for local wildlife.
“Kingborough is home to some remarkable native wildlife, and many of our reserves provide important habitat for threatened species,” Cr Street said.
“By keeping cats out of Cat Prohibited Areas and safely contained at home, cat owners can help protect wildlife while also keeping their pets safe and healthy.”
Council encourages cat owners to contain their cats on their property, consider using cat enclosures or curfews, and ensure cats are desexed and microchipped.
