WORKSHOPS with Aukje Boonstra Textile Artist at Sprokkelwood Art Garden, Bruny Island.

Saturday 20 April 2024, 10.30am to 3.30pm: We will make a wrapping cloth. Wrapping textiles, gifts, food and more in cloth is an ancient Japanese/Korean tradition. During this workshop various embroidery stitches will be demonstrated as well as cord making.

Sunday 21 April 2024, 10.30am to 3.30pm: We will explore the making of a Bento Bag, which can be a food or craft project carrier or used as a fruit bag.

Qualified nurse and wellness counsellor Heather Kennett will talk about simple steps women can take to improve their health and wellness. Followed by the opportunity to sample health promoting teas by ‘The Art of Tea’ and delightful canapes.

Australia is one of the world's healthiest societies, yet men of all backgrounds are less likely than women to live healthy lives.

This talk will focus on the issues being experienced by men that may be preventing better health outcomes and look at some initiatives which are aimed at addressing the imbalance.
Jake Roberts from Health Promotion South and David Puls from 'The Men's Table' will be the presenters.

This talk is part of Council's Positive Ageing program. All are welcome to attend. Morning tea provided.

Live the life you please – Film – Dying to Know Day

Event Description

Imagine if we embraced end-of-life, the way we embrace the start-of-life?

We prepare for birth; we prepare for life; however there is no formal preparation for our last chapter of life.

Live the life you please seeks to answer some of the most important questions of all…

What is a ‘good death’? What would I want for myself?

How does this inform the way I live?

The film runs for 1 hour 30 minutes with time after the film to ask questions.

There will be tea, coffee and refreshments served prior to the start of the film.
