Caring for Someone You Love: Planning Ahead, Staying at Home and Getting Support
Presented by Care2Serve
Many older people find themselves supporting a partner, family member or friend, or starting to think about what support they or their loved ones might need in the future. Often this happens gradually, without people realising they are considered a “carer”.
Join this practical and informative Tuesday talk for seniors (60+) with Care2Serve, the Tasmanian provider of the Australian Government Carer Gateway program that provide free services for unpaid family or friend carers and creators of the Caring for Older Tasmanians resources.
Whether you are supporting someone now, may do so in the future, or simply want to understand your options and plan ahead, this session will provide clear, practical information and reassurance that help is available.
The session will draw on key topics covered in Care2Serve’s well-regarded modules and will explore:
- Planning ahead and understanding what support options are available as we age
- Ways older people can stay living well and safely at home for longer
- How families and friends often step into caring roles, sometimes without realising it
- Free support available through Carer Gateway, including advice, counselling, coaching and respite
- The importance of looking after your own wellbeing while supporting others
Morning tea is provided.
Location: Kingborough Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way, Kingston.
Entry is free. Bookings required.
This free Tuesday talk for seniors (60+) is part of Kingborough Council’s Positive Ageing program.
