Committee Update – March 2026
The Aquatic Facility Steering Committee meetings are currently paused.
In 2025, Council submitted an application to the Urban Precincts and Partnership Program seeking funding to further explore the type of aquatic facility that could be developed in Kingborough, and to support the preparation of an updated Sports Precinct Masterplan that could incorporate such a facility. Unfortunately, Council has been advised that the grant submission was not successful.
Given this outcome, the Steering Committee will remain paused while we await the release of the Greater Hobart Sport and Recreation Strategy. This regional strategy is expected to provide important guidance on the future feasibility of an aquatic centre in Kingborough. Once the strategy is released, Council will consider its findings and determine the appropriate next steps.
Further updates will be provided to the community as new information becomes available.
