Clothes Swap

Get rid of all those unwanted items in your wardrobe and collect a whole new outfit that you love, while helping those less fortunate in the community.

Kingborough’s youth advisory group, Youth Action Kingborough (YAK) are doing their bit to promote the value of recycling clothing, as well as helping people in the community who are experiencing hardship and homelessness through a fundraising event. They are hosting a community clothes swap on Saturday, 14 December at the Kingborough Community Hub, and everyone is invited.

Clothes Swap events encourage people to reuse items, which can help reduce the demand for new items. By swapping a pair of jeans, a resident will save over 6,000 litres of water. YAK’s previous clothes swap was very successful and they see this as a good way to encourage people to reuse.

YAK will be accepting clean and high quality men and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories for the swap from Monday 9 to Saturday 14 December, between 10am and 12pm at the Kingborough Community Hub, 7 Goshawk Way, Kingston. You will receive one token per item for swap on the day, or you are welcome to donate as many items as you like.

People will be able to swap up to 10 items of clothing or you can buy on the day without having to swap. The doors will be open from 12pm to 2pm on the day for swapping and buying. All proceeds, along with any remaining items, will be donated to the Hobart City Mission.

A gold coin entrance fee on the day is requested.
