Tuesday Talks

Caring for carers

The first Tuesday of the month at the Kingston LINC is the time and place to find out about services and supports for our older community members.

The next session on Tuesday, 1 May will be presented by Carers Tasmania, who will discuss the responsibilities of caring. Sometimes taking on the role of Carer happens gradually – helping out more and more as a person’s health and independence get worse over time. It may also happen suddenly – after a health crisis (like a stroke or heart attack) or an accident. It’s not uncommon for Carers to feel that they don’t really have a choice. Even in large families the responsibility of providing care is often left to one person rather than being shared.

Caring for someone can become isolating.  Getting a chance to discuss concerns or have some time without responsibilities can be difficult. If you know someone who is a carer or who may be becoming more and more responsible for the everyday care of a family member or friend, this Tuesday Talk will provide contacts and helpful information.

All are welcome, however bookings are encouraged by phoning (03) 6211 8170.

Tuesday Talks are part of Kingborough Council’s Positive Ageing program.
