Green Waste

Kerbside Collection Service

A fortnightly kerbside green waste collection service to provided is properties on the current kerbside collection service.

The service aligns with the Council’s Waste Management Strategy  and is consistent with the Council’s declaration of a climate change emergency. Importantly, it also helps mitigate the effects of climate change by diverting green waste from landfill and reducing greenhouse emissions.

To opt in to the kerbside green waste service or request another bin please complete  the Opt-In Form below. If you have decided to try Home Composting and no longer require your green waste bin you can use the Opt-Out form below. Please have your property identification number (PID) ready as this is a requirement of the form. This is the number on your rates notice.

FOGO Coming October 2021

Our current green waste collection service will be transitioning to a Food Organics and Garden Organics service (FOGO) later this year (October 2021) for Kingborough residents.

Approximately 60 per cent of the average household bin is made up of food and garden waste. This service offers the potential for participating residents to reduce their waste sent to landfill by more than half.

Anyone already receiving the green waste collection services is automatically transitioned to the FOGO service.

There will be no changes to the bins or scheduling of your kerbside services but from 4 October 2021 you will be able to add a range of other compostable items to your current green waste bin. The service will replace the current green waste service.

To help residents collect food waste for composting, Council will be offering a small kitchen caddy to all Kingborough properties that have a green waste bin.

If you would like to register for a kitchen caddy you can click on the caddy picture to apply. We will then deliver the caddy to your address in preparation for the service.
