Youth Action Kingborough

Youth Action Kingborough meets monthly at the Kingborough Community Hub. YAK members are aged 14 – 25, living or studying in Kingborough.  They help shape youth activities, support community events, and contribute directly to Council projects and youth-focused decision making.

YAK has recently been involved in:

  • Volunteering at Council events – including tasks such as face painting, running our canteen at events where the proceeds go to Kingborough Helping Hands, assisting with craft activities, and more
  • Producing the first King Zine youth magazine, including developing content and stories
  • Having a voice on Council projects, including feedback on the Child and Youth Framework and the Youth Engagement Survey
  • Designing and painting the backdrop for the first Christmas Youth Pantomime
  • Making soup for Loui’s Van
  • Participating in a “Meet the Councillor” session with Councillor Amanda Midgley
  • Visiting Kingston Library to provide feedback on study spaces and youth needs
  • Hosting an LGBTQIA+ friendly quiz night
  • Engaging local businesses in LGBTQIA+ awareness by encouraging them to display rainbow stickers or register as LGBTQIA+ friendly spaces to make people feel more welcome

YAK is suitable for ages 14+
