Bushfire fuel reduction burn at Boronia Hill Park

The rescheduled fuel reduction burn for Boronia Hill Park was completed on Sat 21 and 22nd April.

Weather permitting, another burn is planned this Saturday, 28th April 2018 at Denison St Reserve.

The burn is being carried out on a weekend as we are relying on volunteer brigades to assist us. We greatly appreciate the support of the volunteers as we would not be able to conduct these burns to manage our reserves without them.

The walking tracks will be closed during the burn and will remain closed until the reserve has been declared safe to re-open to the public.

Smoke and ash

Residents are advised that given the fire will be a low intensity burn, there may be significant smoke generated and residents that may be susceptible to respiratory ailments should take the necessary precaution to avoid inhalation of smoke. Local residents are advised to keep windows shut and avoid outside airing of laundry during the day of the burn. People with medical conditions are advised to have a personal plan for avoiding smoke from the burn.

Further advice on the potential health effects of smoke exposure can be obtained from:

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to people as a result of smoke from the planned burn but smoke is an unavoidable consequence of reducing bushfire fuels to make communities safer.
