Water Quality Update, 15 November 2019

The water quality at Blackmans Bay is still receiving good results as part of Council’s out-of-season intensive sampling regime.

The Mayor of Kingborough, Cr Dean Winter is encouraged by the results and is pleased with the progress on stormwater solutions.

“The next low-flow diversion will be installed during November at the mid-Blackmans Bay beach outflow, and we will be assessing the performance of the diversions over the coming months,” he said.

“We are also pleased to announce the appointment of a Stormwater Investigations Officer, who will be dedicated entirely to stormwater catchment and water quality investigations.

“The water quality information session we ran at Blackmans Bay in early November was very well-attended and enabled the community to quiz us on water quality, stormwater investigations and many other issues.

“It was great to have representatives from TasWater, the Department of Health and the Derwent Estuary Program at the event.

“We are all working very closely together and will continue to do so in order to improve our water quality and ratings.

Further water quality information sessions are being organised and details will be published soon on Council’s social media channels and website at www.kingborough.tas.gov.au/events.
