Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said Council would be begin the process of recruiting for a new General Manager after the announcement of Gary Arnold’s retirement set for the 17 February 2024.
“Gary has been a very steady hand at the wheel of Kingborough Council for the past 9 ½ years,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Under his leadership Council has ensured the long-term financial sustainability of the Council.
“This is despite significant investment in community infrastructure such as Kingston Park.
“Gary is highly respected amongst his peers for his whole of sector outlook and collaborative nature in local government policy.
“He was also the longest serving President of the LG Professionals in Tasmania from 2016 to 2021.
“He has been a valuable source of advice for Councillors and staff and will be sorely missed,” Cr Wriedt said.
