Dru Point Footpath Upgrade

Kingborough Council will begin construction on a shared footpath from the main gate of Dru Point Playground to the Kiosk this week.

Acting Mayor, Clare Glade-Wright said the footpath would provide better accessibility and safety for all users.

“The concrete path will begin at entrance and continue all the way to the Kiosk and be 2.1 metres wide to enable mobility and pram users better pedestrian access to the park,” Cr Glade-Wright said.

“Council is also adding a gravel footpath on both sides of the road from the Kiosk to the dog park.

“Dru Point is one of our most popular parks and the updates that have occurred to date will see better use of well loved area.

“The playground was upgraded in June and now has a new double flying fox, netting hammock swing and Orbit rope climbing frame.

“The new double flying fox and rope climbing structure replace the old equipment and will be popular for the older children using the park.

“Construction of the footpath will take approximately 10 weeks depending on the weather.”
