Kingborough End of Life Expo

As part of National Advance Care Planning Week, Kingborough Council is hosting the End-of-Life Expo on Tuesday 26 March from 10am – 3pm at the Kingborough Community Hub.

Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the Expo was an opportunity to raise local awareness of the support services available for end-of-life decisions.

“Thinking about and communicating your preferences for your future health care is an important part of life,” Cr Wriedt said.

“The expo will have a range of exhibitors representing groups such as Palliative Care Tasmania, funeral services, legal advice, independent doulas and hospice care.

“You will be able to see examples of natural and environmentally sustainable caskets/coffins.

“There will also be a program of free talks which will run through the day.

“There will be such a wide variety of interesting and informative topics presented.

“You will be able learn what to do if someone dies; how to care for your loved one at home; information on palliative care, guardianships and other paperwork; the role of doulas, natural burials, home funerals, voluntary assisted dying and how to manage your digital legacy.

“The Expo will shine a light on some of the topics we traditionally may to prefer to keep private.

“By bringing this together, community members will be able to start to have these very important conversations.”
