Larapinta End to End documentary at Hub

Kingborough Community Hub will host Taroona resident Paul Pritchard’s documentary, ‘Larapinta End to End’ on Wednesday, 12 February.

Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the film showcased the remarkable journey undertaken by Paul Pritchard and his fellow adventurers living with disabilities as they completed the Larapinta Trail.

“Paul Pritchard, an author and disability educator, became paralysed on the right side of his body following a climbing accident on the Totem Pole in 1998,” said Cr Wriedt.

“Since the accident, Paul has led disabled adventurers on many journeys around the world including a 17-day Larapinta Trial hike which is featured in this documentary.
“The iconic Larapinta Trail spans 235 kilometres through desert mountains and dry, rocky river gullies.

“It is regarded as one of Australia’s most challenging multi-day desert treks.”

Paul Pritchard said he recognised the risks they were taking were extreme.

“We firmly believe that to force meaningful societal change, societies always need people to push their boundaries,” said Paul.

“Larapinta End to End has been wowing audiences in Europe and Australia and has been entered into 23 film festivals so far.

“The film has been massively engaging viewers, encouraging discussion and debate, not only about ‘dignity of risk’ but wider human rights issues.”

The documentary starts at 4.30pm and will be followed by Q&A with Paul.

Paul will be accompanied by the film’s co-director and Kingston resident, Mike Sampey.

Bookings are required and tickets are free with a maximum of two tickets per registration.
