Kingborough Council is proudly supporting the TasPride Summer Festival with its second Great Kingborough Bake Off on Saturday 22 February from 10am to 12pm at the Kingborough Community Hub
Mayor, Paula Wriedt said entering the competition was a fun and creative way for the community to get involved and improve LGBTIQA+ inclusiveness in the community.
Open to everyone, the competition will feature a range of decorated cupcakes and cakes in three categories:
• Under 12s – decorated cupcake with an open theme - Pancake Train voucher $100
• 12- 18 years – decorated cake of choice with a rainbow theme - Minimax voucher $200
• Open award – pride theme - Minimax voucher $500
• People’s choice – Salty Dog voucher $100
“Members of the community are asked to bake and decorate their own cakes at home for a chance to win a prize.
“The entries will be on display for the duration of the exhibition and taken home by the exhibitors afterwards.
“We were thoroughly impressed by the quality and imagination of the entrants from last year’s competition.
“While the cakes are being judged, the community are welcome to come along, have a cuppa and put in a vote for the ‘People’s Choice’ award.
“There will also be cakes available to purchase from Floofy Cakes, the owner of which was last year’s winner of the 2024 Great Kingborough Bake Off. Free tea and coffee will also be provided.
