Kingborough’s two new container refund points are ready for the May 1 launch of the Recycle Rewards Container Refund Scheme.
The new refund points have been installed at Kingston Town Centre and near the Kingborough Bowls Club in Margate that will offer a 10c refund to the user for returning eligible drink containers.
Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the Container Refund Scheme is an excellent way for our community to get rewarded for better recycling habits.
“Conveniently located refund points have been installed, allowing you to receive a 10c refund for each eligible drink container,” Cr Wriedt said.
“People returning items can opt for the refund themselves or they can select to donate the amount to one of the many charities that are registered to benefit from the scheme.
“This is a great way for the community to support causes they are passionate about and a wonderful addition to Kingborough’s growing recycling programs.
“Barretta Waste and Recycling Centre has the capacity for recycling:
• FOGO (food organics and garden organics)
• Oil
• Batteries
• Cardboard
• Paper
• Paint
• Electrical equipment including mobile phones and computers
• Expired marine flares
Refunds are received in the form of a voucher to be exchanged for cash or a discount on shopping at a participating retailer, a deposit into your chosen account such as bank or PayPal, cash (at depots) or donated to a Donation Partner.
