Kingborough Council will extend its Positive Ageing Program to communities throughout the Channel from September to November, offering a series of informative and engaging events closer to home for residents living in Margate, Snug, Kettering and surrounds.
Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the initiative known as ‘Channel Talks’, featured a variety of guest speakers covering topics such as nutrition, physiotherapy, and mental health.
“These sessions are designed to reach residents who may not usually attend events held in Kingston,” Cr Wriedt said.
“At the same time, we’re trialling the use of our community halls in the Channel area to activate these spaces and bring people together.
“During these sessions, residents will have the opportunity to hear from experts and ask general questions in an open and welcoming environment.”
The free Channel Talks dates include:
- Thursday, 4 September, 11am to 12pm at Margate Hall, Nutrition and digestion for healthy ageing
- Wednesday, 15 October, 11am to 12pm at Kettering Community Hall, How to stay active, how to stay strong
- Tuesday, 6 November, 11am to 12pm at Snug Community Hall, Thriving in later years – Mental Health and Wellbeing
Doors open at 10.45am for each session.
