This year Council is partnering with the Lions Club of Kingborough on the thirteenth Kingborough Art Prize Exhibition at the Kingborough Community Hub.
Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the event is a wonderful opportunity to support local artists.
“We’re proud to be working with the Lions Club of Kingborough to present this exhibition, which showcases a diverse range of works from both emerging and established artists,” Cr Wriedt said.
“The exhibition will have a non-acquisition first prize of $1,500 for the best work exhibited, and three category prizes, each of $600.
“In addition to the main exhibition, this year will include a youth prize of $300, sponsored by Kingborough Council.
“The $1,500 Art Prize will be awarded by the judging panel to an artwork in any medium on any subject.
“The exhibition will open on Thursday, 18 September at 10 am, with an official opening on Friday, 19 September, starting at 5pm.
“Winning exhibits will be selected by an independent, professional judging panel, and announced on the night.

A $600 award will be made in each of the following categories.
• Paintings oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolour & mixed media.
• Design / 3D, Ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles, furniture & wood.
• Works on Paper pastels, drawing, ink & digital art.
