Record turnout for National Tree Day

Kingborough Council hosted its 2025 National Tree Day planting event on the Snug foreshore on Sunday, 27 July.

Mayor Paula Wriedt said this year’s planting event saw a record number of attendees.

“What a fantastic day on the Snug foreshore, where 169 volunteers came together to plant over 1,000 native plants and be part of our biggest turnout yet,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Glorious winter weather made for the perfect day to connect, chat, and care for our local environment.

“This event was part of a broader Council project focused on planning for future climate impacts at Snug, including increased frequency and intensity of storm events that will lead to greater beach erosion and more frequent coastal flooding.

“Thank you to the Community Association of Greater Snug and North West Bay Scout Group for keeping enthusiasm high with their BBQ and guided walks.

“And a big thank you to all of you who joined us and made this year’s National Tree Day extra special.

“Together, we’re making a difference for Kingborough’s natural areas.”
