Kingborough Council is preparing for long-term changes along the Snug foreshore, where erosion and flooding have created ongoing management challenges for over 15 years.
Mayor, Paula Wriedt said investigations have shown that increasing storm intensity, coastal flooding, and rising groundwater are expected to accelerate erosion of the shoreline and coincidental flooding in the decades ahead.
“Following a community information session held on 2 August 2025, Council is working closely with locals to better understand what matters most to them in planning for the future of the foreshore,” Cr Wriedt said.
“One of the important processes is capturing how people use the Snug foreshore through a community survey.
“This information will guide Council’s practical approach, which aims to balance community needs with the realities of a changing coastline.
“Snug’s foreshore is a much-loved part of our community, and we want to make sure future adaptation planning reflects the values, priorities and ideas of local residents,” Cr Wriedt said.
“We encourage everyone who enjoys the foreshore, whether it’s for walking, fishing, picnicking, or simply enjoying the view to share their thoughts through the survey.”
The survey is now open and can be accessed HERE.
