Kingborough residents are invited to a vibrant community event celebrating cultural diversity through food, art, and music at the Kingborough Community Hub on Friday, 12 September from 4:30pm to 7pm.
Mayor Paula Wriedt said Cuisine of the Continents is a new way to bring people together celebrating Kingborough’s diversity and promoting respect and belonging.
“Community members will be able to enjoy three tasting plates of authentic international cuisine including a traditional Greek dish, Ethiopian cuisine and Korean food,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Long tables will be set up in the Kingborough Community Hub, creating a relaxed space to enjoy live music by Tea House, along with the chance to experience henna tattoos and traditional Arabic calligraphy.
“Meet artist Halima Bhatti and discover Arabic calligraphy, or get your own henna design from Ranjeeta during the evening.
“Cuisine of the Continents is the third in a series of four Kingborough Together events, made possible with support from a Tasmanian Government Social Cohesion grant.
“These events are all about celebrating our diverse cultures, sharing experiences, and building an inclusive community.
“It is important that we work to reduce barriers to ensure that everyone is able to participate in community activities,” Cr Wriedt said.
