Kingborough Council is inviting young people aged 8 to 18 to audition for a community Christmas pantomime to be performed this December at the Kingborough Community Hub.
Acting Mayor, Clare Glade-Wright said this year’s production is ‘A Christmas Carol’; a lively and humorous adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, written by Adrian Barradell.
“The pantomime format offers a fun and accessible entry point for young performers of all experience levels,” Cr Glade-Wright said.
“The production will mix spoken word, traditional theatre and humour that will entertain audiences of all ages.
“The story follows the transformation of the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge as he’s visited by three magical spirits who help him rediscover the joy of kindness, community, and Christmas cheer.
“Auditions are open to young people who live or attend school in Kingborough.
“Successful applicants will be expected to attend rehearsals twice a week, on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons leading up to three performances scheduled for early December.
“There will also be opportunities for those interested in backstage and front of house roles.
“Council is collaborating with a Kingborough-based theatre company Isabella Rose Stage Company (IRSC) for the auditions and to bring this production to life.
“IRSC have a strong focus on youth engagement that provides opportunities for young people to explore the performing arts in a supportive environment,” Cr Glade-Wright said.
Auditions will take place during the school holidays on Friday, 3 October at the Kingborough Community Hub.
