Kingborough Council is proud to support National Carers Week (October 12 to 18) by recognising and celebrating the vital role of unpaid carers in our community.
Acting Mayor Clare Glade-Wright said Council is hosting a special event “Navigating the Maze for Carers” for Carers Week.
“This informative session is being held at the Kingborough Community Hub on Tuesday, 14 October, and will explore the complex responsibilities carers often face,” Cr Glade-Wright said.
“This include managing finances, acting as a nominee for government services, and attending appointments related to health, housing, and end-of-life care.
“The event will feature expert speakers from Care2Serve and Solace End of Life Services, offering practical advice and support for carers navigating these challenges.
“Across Tasmania over 87,000 people, around 1 in 6 residents, provide unpaid practical care and support to a loved one.
“Carers come from all walks of life, and anyone can become a carer at any time.
“Their contributions are often unseen, yet they are essential to the wellbeing of individuals and families.
“Carers who have access to support, experience significantly better wellbeing than those who do not.
“Support can be as simple as a regular check-in, an offer of respite, or a heartfelt acknowledgment of their efforts,” Cr Glade-Wright said.
