Kingborough is a wonderful place to walk and connect, however it can be challenging for people if the footpaths are not clear.
Mayor Paula Wriedt is reminding residents the importance of keeping footpaths free from obstacles and being considerate of others in the community.
“It’s important for our residents to be able to move around our streets and footpaths without obstructions,” Cr Wriedt said.
“People with disabilities, those using mobility aids or someone pushing a pram may find it difficult to get around the if there are cars, wheelie bins, or overgrown vegetation blocking their path.
“You can help by ensuring you do not park over footpaths or walkways, so everyone has a safe and accessible route.
“Parking partially or completely on the footpath in cul-de-sacs might seem helpful, but it actually blocks access for walkers, kids on bikes, and anyone using mobility devices.
“Please keep all footpaths clear of vehicles so everyone can move safely and freely.
“Residents are also responsible for removing any vegetation from their property that may block the footpath.
“This means making sure anyone can travel on the walkway without leaving the footpath.
“Bringing your wheelie bin in soon after collection helps keep pathways clear and safe.
“Leaving it out for long periods can create an obstacle.
“With a little bit of consideration for each other, we can create a safer, more welcoming community for everyone,” Cr Wriedt said.
