Council released the independent reviews into the Summerleas Underpass and Kingston Bus Interchange projects at the 17 November Council Meeting.
Kingborough Mayor Paula Wriedt said to strengthen future project delivery, Council had initiated an independent review into each project.
“We know the delays on both projects had an impact on our community, and that’s why we undertook independent reviews,” Cr Wriedt said.
“We want to improve how we plan and deliver projects moving forward.
“Council has already begun implementing the 11 recommendations to address the findings.
“The reviews have been guiding important improvements with a strong focus on governance, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.
“This work has involved a full redevelopment of the project management and governance frameworks at Council.
“A key element of this, is improving the internal processes to ensure all aspects of projects are fully considered and managed before entering the construction phase.
“We have now incorporated new processes, stronger frameworks and robust risk management practices at every stage of a project, to ensure better outcomes in future.
“We recognise that managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects requires stronger management and we are working with a consultant to embed best-practice principles into our processes.”
