Community Engagement open for Dog Management Policy Update

Kingborough Council invites community members to share their views on a proposed off-lead dog area in Kingston and a dedicated dog training space in Margate.

Acting Kingborough Mayor, Clare Glade-Wright said the public engagement period will be open from Thursday 4 December 2025 until Wednesday 14 January 2026.

“Council understands how valued off-lead areas and training facilities are for local dog owners in Kingborough,” Cr Glade-Wright said.

“This proposed new dog park and training area are necessary to accommodate the development of the Kingborough Sports Precinct.

“Council has been working closely with the Kingborough Dog Walkers Association and the Southern Obedience Club to identify these two new locations.

“Both areas provide similar level of amenity and accessibility for the community to enjoy their dogs.

“The proposed dog exercise area is located at 34 Maddocks Road Kingston as a replacement for the one currently located at Kingston View Drive.

“This new area will incorporate a greyhound and separate puppy area.

“The engagement is also seeking the community’s feedback of the new training area for the Southern Obedience Club in Dru Point, Margate.

Community feedback will help shape the final design and amenities.

The current Kingston View Drive off-lead exercise area will remain open until at least March 2026.
