Calling for Volunteer Gardeners to Support Local Seniors

Kingborough Council is encouraging community‑minded residents to lend a hand through the Kingborough Volunteer Program, with new volunteers needed to help local seniors with light gardening tasks.

Mayor Paula Wriedt said Kingborough Volunteers play a vital role in supporting older residents to remain independent and connected to their gardens.

“A little bit of help can make a big difference,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Jobs can be simple but meaningful, such as weeding, pruning and general outdoor tidying.

“We know how important gardens are to many of our older residents.

“By volunteering, even a couple of hours a month, you can help someone stay safe, confident and connected to the community they love.

“Most clients enjoy working alongside volunteers, making it a supportive and social experience for both,” Cr Wriedt said.

Kingborough Volunteer Program has been assisting members in the community over 65-years-old for more than 14 years.

Council welcomes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who are willing to share their time, kindness and energy.
