Kingborough Council has announced the judging panel for the 2026 Great Kingborough Bake Off, with entries now open for the much‑loved community competition.
This year’s Bake Off panel includes returning judges professional chef Kirsten Bacon and the Great Australian Bake Off finalist Dr Nurman Noor, along with Director, Environment, Development & Community at Kingborough Council, Deleeze Chetcuti.
Mayor Paula Wriedt said the judges bring a wealth of creativity, industry experience and community insight to the competition.
“We are thrilled to have such a strong judging panel for the 2026 Great Kingborough Bake Off,” Cr Wriedt said.
“From professional culinary expertise to nationally recognised baking talent and strong community leadership, our judges will be looking for entries that showcase creativity, design and a strong connection to the event’s diversity theme.
“Now in its third year, the Great Kingborough Bake Off is Council’s contribution to the TasPride Summer Festival and features colourfully decorated cakes and cupcakes created by community members competing across a range of categories.
“This LGBTIQA+ inclusive event is open to everyone, and I can’t wait to see how creative the community gets this year.
“Competition award categories include Ages 8–12, Ages 13–18, the Open Award and the People’s Choice Award.
“Entries will be judged on design, creativity and how well they reflect the theme, with community members encouraged to attend the event, enjoy a cup of tea and vote for the People’s Choice Award.
“Cakes and other baked delights will also be available for purchase from Honey Child, with free tea and coffee provided on the day.
“Mama Rosa will be the MC for the event, bringing along her special humour and entertainment as well local band Cadence providing a fantastic atmosphere and playing smooth jazz,” Cr Wriedt said.
