Seasonal Walks for Seniors returns for 2026

Kingborough Council’s Seasonal Walks are returning for 2026, giving older community members the opportunity to explore some of the municipality’s beautiful natural reserves.

Mayor Paula Wriedt said Seasonal Walks are about connection as much as they are about walking

“They’re a much‑loved part of Council’s Positive Ageing Program because they bring people together to share time in nature, learn something new and enjoy good company,” Cr Wriedt said.

“They are led by Council’s Natural Areas Interpretation Officer and are specifically created for people who may find it difficult to enjoy nature alone or who feel more confident getting outdoors with support.

“Each Seasonal Walk offers a safe, welcoming, and social way to connect with the natural environment while enjoying company and conversation.

“The first walk for 2026 will be along the picturesque Whitewater Creek Track at Spring Farm on Tuesday, 17 March.

“This gentle 1.5km return walk travels on wide gravel and concrete track at a relaxed pace, with frequent stops to observe nature, snack and plenty of opportunities for conversation.

“Seasonal Walks are free, and details about parking and meeting points are provided upon registration,” Cr Wriedt said.

Registrations can be made via the events page, calling 6211 8200 or emailingkc@kingborough.tas.gov.au
