Ageing well together in Kingborough

Kingborough’s older residents enrich our community with their energy, wisdom and generosity, and Council’s Positive Ageing program helps support and celebrate that spirit.

Acting Mayor Clare Glade-Wright said each month Council’s Tuesday Talks provide a relaxed chance to learn something new while enjoying morning tea and friendly conversation.

“The 14 April session will focus on the health benefits of spending time in nature,” Cr Glade-Wright said.

“For those who enjoy gentle movement outdoors, our Seasonal Walks offer supported opportunities to explore local reserves and trails.

“These guided outings are ideal for people who may not feel confident walking alone and are a lovely way to build new connections.

“The Autumn Seasonal Walk will be held on 17 March along the Whitewater Creek track, an easy and social ramble with plenty of time to chat and enjoy a cuppa.

“Council’s Pop-Up Cafés have also become a much-loved gathering place.

“For $5, patrons receive a barista made coffee or tea, a tasty snack and an engaging guest speaker, while young local baristas gain valuable experience.

“On 17 March, the Dogs’ Home of Tasmania will join us with a furry friend to celebrate 75 years of “Paws, Purpose and Community”.

“All activities are welcoming, social and designed to keep people connected, active and inspired,” Cr Glade-Wright said.
