Vital support for babies and children in need has been provided to local charity, Tassie Mums through Kingborough Council’s 2025/26 Community Grants program.
Mayor Paula Wriedt said $1500 had been provided for the purchase of baby bottles and feeding packs for Tassie Mums.
“The Deputy Mayor, Cr Clare Glade-Wright and I visited Tassie Mums recently to hear how this grant has helped them to continue their valuable work and to meet staff and their dedicated volunteers,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Tassie Mums help support families experiencing financial hardship, those escaping family violence, single mothers, people facing mental health challenges, and new migrants.
“In the last financial year, Tassie Mums supported 157 children in Kingborough by providing practical items such as cots, car seats, clothing bundles and books.
“It’s great to see the impact that this organisation has on not just our local community, but right throughout the State,” Cr Wriedt said.
Founder of Tassie Mums, Clair Harris explained that the grant allows them to support the most vulnerable babies with essential feeding equipment in moments of crisis and hardship.
“Tassie Mums is grateful for the support from Kingborough Council,” said Ms Harris.
“Community support like this helps give babies the best start in life.”
Tassie Mums is currently in need of size 5 girls clothing due to high demand.

“The 2025/26 Community Grants Program supported 13 organisations, including Meals on Wheels, Taroona Neighbourhood Garden, Kingborough Community Missions and the Woodbridge Cricket Club,” Cr Wriedt said.
Applications for the next round of Community Grants are expected to open around August 2026.
