Talent and Creativity shine at this years’ Great Kingborough Bake Off

The Kingborough community came together in a vibrant display of colour for the Great Kingborough Bake Off, held at the Kingborough Community Hub on Saturday, 21 February.

Mayor Paula Wriedt said more than 40 talented cake decorators entered this year’s competition, showcasing exceptional creativity and imagination.

“Thank you to everyone that entered the 2026 Great Kingborough Bake Off, your skill and creativity was exceptional,” Cr Wriedt said.

“This event was in support of the TasPride Summer Festival and celebrates inclusion, equality and the freedom to express yourself.

“This year’s judges, Kirsten Bacon, Dr Nurman Noor and Deleeze Chetcuti, had the impossible task of selecting the winners across the three categories.

“Highly Commended Awards went to Auriana Cronly, Claire Gluskie, Karen Camino, Esami Adachi, Carrie Heaven and Jess Agius; congratulations for your beautifully designed cakes.

“Thamar Hoen won the Open Award category, Sunny Whelan won the 13–18 years category and Florence Lewis won the 8–12 years category.

“Attendees also had the opportunity to have their say by voting in the People’s Choice Award, which was awarded to Islay Marriott.

“Thank you to the local band Cadence and Mamma Rosa our MC for providing an amazing atmosphere on the day and to Toni Burnett Rands from Honey Child for supplying a delicious range of sweet treats,” Cr Wriedt said.
